Drive EV Fleets

Drive EV Fleets, organized by Sourcewell and the Electrification Coalition, leverages the buying power of cities and other governmental and nonprofit organizations to reduce the costs of EVs and charging infrastructure for all U.S. cities, counties, courts, school districts, state governments, and public universities, thereby accelerating fleet transitions. Drive EV Fleets also provides training, best practices, educational resources, and analysis support, creating a one-stop shop to support EV transitions for public fleets.

In January 2017, the City of Los Angeles and 30 other U.S. cities issued an electric vehicle request for information (RFI), which helped aggregate and better understand municipal demand for EVs. Feedback and suggestions received through that process led to the development of Drive EV Fleets.

On September 11, 2018, at the Los Angeles Forum on Clean Transportation, Mayor Garcetti launched Drive EV Fleets where municipal fleets from around the U.S. announced a large-scale commitment to electrification. With the leadership of founding cities and partners Sourcewell, the Electrification Coalition, and Climate Mayors, this announcement spurred a national transition to electric vehicles.

On September 11, 2018, at the Los Angeles Forum on Clean Transportation, Mayor Garcetti launched Drive EV Fleets where municipal fleets from around the U.S. announced a large-scale commitment to electrification. With the leadership of founding cities, this announcement spurred national transition to electrification, improving air quality, driving innovation, and helping America maintain its commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement.
